Automated welding of aluminium outrigger pads    

Aluminium outrigger pads are used for stabilising mobile cranes, concrete pumps and folding cranes. The use of extruded aluminium profiles creates a stabiliser system that is both lightweight and dimensionally stable. Ideal for intensive use on construction sites.

For our regular customer Verberk Group - Voskuilen, we process the extruded profiles and drawings they supply into a stamped plate.

Milling and turning
In our machining department, the tubes are milled to size and weld edges are applied to ensure a reliable and reproducible welding process. Holes are drilled according to the drawing and the customer's name is engraved into the material. The lifting points are also turned in a way that they can be welded directly onto the robot.

Modular structure: subassemblies between humans and robots
For maximum efficiency, the welding process is divided into several phases:
1. The assembler builds the sub-assemblies, carefully positioning and tacking all parts and tolerances.
2. The attached sub-assemblies are sent to the welding robot, which welds the parts completely.
3. The welded parts are returned to the assembler, where all sub-components are assembled into a complete outrigger plate.
4. The complete structure is returned to the robot, where the long, continuous weld seams are finished to a consistent quality.

This interaction between craftsmanship and robot technology creates an extremely stable and reproducible process.  Ideal for both small series and continuous production
